Played the 2007 Seattle Int'l Film Festival Opening Gala on Thursday, May 24, with Darek Mazzone. It was a blast, great crowd, big projector screens, a very nice time. Once again, it was "80s Night" - so I got to use a lot of my clips from my regular See Sound Lounge "80s Night". It's funny becuase the PNB Backstage Bash event last month was also "80s" themed - go figure.

The Desyn Masiello show at CLUB HEAVEN on the May 18th went well. It was a blast to play with Desyn (though I don't think he knew what the hell I was doing as the video screens at CLUB HEAVEN are on the front of the DJ booth - so you can't see them - oh well, I'm sure he thought I was the "lighting guy" :P
The "theme" of the night was "Grind House" and I was asked to create FOUR HOURS of custom "Tarantino" content - which was fine and all, lots of great stuff, but it got me thinking about the whole "THEME" night thing. If I create FOUR HOURS of custom content for a show, and there is no other reference to the THEME (outside of the flyer), does anyone realize there is a theme or do they just end up wondering "what's up with all the Grind house clips?" - I feel kind of hung out to dry if there's no other reference to the theme beyond my visuals. It's OK I guess, but in the midst of spending 80hrs making clips for a theme that no one is even going to get, you sometimes wonder "why am I doing this? I should just play what I want". Curious.
VJ NIGHT was great. We're taking JUNE off to focus on OPTICLASH.

Tomorrow, the 24th, I'll be VJing the opening night Gala for the SEATTLE INT'L FILM FESTIVAL! Very cool.
